Tourism in Morocco

People have always moved from one place or country to another, for objective reasons such as trade, military campaigns, religious travel, study, and so on ... The travel and tourism and leisure traffic in the modern sense, have only begun to evolve and develop in the early twentieth century. 

Since then, travel and tourist traffic have continued to prosper and grow, locally and internationally, especially since the mid-twentieth century, with the developement of tourism services, diversification of destinations, and the establishment of structures necessary reception at high level. 



This enormous development of the tourism sector and its active role in the economy, culture, and relations between the countries are factors that encouraged managers around the world to pay more attention to what their country have in terms of cultural, heritage, and historic resources; of archaeological and ethnographic treasures and monuments; and geographical areas and landscapes that attract tourists. 

They have also started taking care of equipment related to the tourism sector by developing various means of tourist transportation by land, sea routes, and air; improving road infrastructure, building hotels and shelters, and training the necessary staff and qualified in the field. All this has contributed to the development of the economies of these countries. 

Morocco does not stay away from the development of tourism in the world; On the contrary, he was aware at an early stage the importance of this sector and the changes it can bring on many levels. Thus, Morocco has made tourism a priority that needs attention and development, especially since the country has a huge tourism potential which makes it a highly attractive country. Thus, Morocco has become over the years a favorite destination of many tourists from different countries of the world. 

However, with the development and expansion of this sector in Morocco, different types of tourism have emerged, such as cultural tourism, sports tourism, religious tourism, tourism and business seminars, natural and historical tourism ... 

This may seem natural to some observers, but tourism has highlighted important paradoxes and contradictions in the underdeveloped countries. On one hand, there is a category of wealthy tourists who arrive to poor countries, and spend it without counting; and secondly, there is a lower class of the local population, who need money and work. The rule of supply and demand is thus inevitable in such circumstances. Therefore, some classes offering sexual services have emerged, and there were groups of tourists seeking out these services, and that's what today is called "sex tourism." This type of tourism has grown with the influx of tourists from Arab Gulf countries. Many observers believe that this has affected the tourism sector significantly, and its recreational cultural, and economic. According to them, the sex tourism industry has tarnished, affected his ethics and credibility of its workers and deeply prejudiced society. 

In this sense, many stakeholders interested in the development of the tourism sector and tourism policy planners in the country, believe that it is possible to overcome the damage caused by the sex tourism, affecting the company's reputation, and dignity of its people; and establishing tourism policies capable of raising the economic level of the country. This can be achieved by developing the historic monuments of Morocco, as well as its natural environmental diversity and scarce globally and diversifying its non-tourism economic resources to improve the financial and cultural level of the population, so that no class will have to beg and sell to tourists or anyone else. 

Tourism has never been linked to sex or prostitution, but it was and will remain a cultural and historical movement that has always contributed to the economic growth, diversification of tourism products, and the development of interest for history, geography, and natural diversity of the countries that have focused on this sector. 

Tourism will always be a defining aspect of many countries around the world, including Morocco, this tourist destination par excellence as well as a convergence factor of cultures and openness to many civilizations.
