The tourism in Africa
African tourism is an important economic activity. The tourist peculiarity of Africa lies in the wide variety of points of interest, diversity and multitude of landscapes and rich cultural heritage.
2000 Only Kenya, Zambia, Mauritius, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria and the Democratic Republic of Congo are experiencing strong growth and two of the greatest destinations in Africa, South Africa and Zimbabwe, are stagnating. 2001 The tourist area has a 4.3% increase in international arrivals. South Africa remains the most important destination despite lower arrivals. The countries that experienced the strongest growth in international arrivals are: Namibia, Tanzania and Nigeria. 2002 2.8% increase in the number of international tourist arrivals, which reached 29 million. North Africa was down 2% due to declines in Tunisia and Morocco. Receipts from international tourism have approached 12 billion USD. 2003 The international tourist arrivals grew by 3%. In 2003, some of the sub-Saharan destinations were considered safe places which benefit the entire region. South Africa has experienced an increase of 1%, while Mauritius, Reunion and Zambia also known slight increases. 2004 A 15% increase in overall growth is recorded in the region with Morocco and Tunisia stand out. The results of the sub-Saharan region has been more modest. 2005 Africa has outperformed all other regions, the increase in arrivals is estimated at about 9%. Growth was almost as strong in sub-Saharan Africa and North Africa. 2006 Africa is the first region through the growth in the number of international tourist arrivals increasing by 9% for the second year. 2007 Africa is among the best performers in 2007, arrivals have increased by 7% to $ 44 million. Receipts from international tourism rose to 28 billion USD. 2008 4% increase in the number of international tourist arrivals to 47 million. Receipts from international tourism totaled 31 billion USD. 2009 An international tourist arrivals up 3% number was recorded. For cons, the international tourism receipts showed a decline with USD $ 29 billion.
